Illness and recovery

There has not been a post since Thursday.  By late Friday, I really wasn't feeling well, and I was feeling even worse yesterday.  Things are slowly recovering today.  I went through all of the stages, the; "oh, this is just minor, it will be gone in no time stage," the "oh this is bad, it could be worse stage," the "oh Lord, just take me now stage," and the "I'd better call the undertaker and pastor stage."  This morning feeling the worst was over, I discovered the shortage of stomach-friendly food and drink in the cupboard, I drove the backstreets to the nearest location of a major national drugstore chain that the late Bea Arthur once did television commercials for.   I navigated the aisles leaning on my shopping cart as though it was a walker.  $28.00 of bland food and a bottle of a thick pink liquid later, I headed for home feeling like I'd done a full day of work in an hour.  I slept for three more.

Illness does strange things.  It causes one to observe things that one might not usually observe.  It also puts things in life back into proper perspective.  For anyone who believes in God, it is the sort of situation that reminds one that they are entirely in his care.
