Another Bush on the White House lawn?

Jeb, which is actually an acronym for John Ellis Bush, the former Florida Governor, son of former President George H.W. Bush, and brother of former President George W. Bush has announced he’s running for the Republican presidential nomination in the US.  If Jeb gets the job and if Hillary Clinton gets the Democratic nomination, there will be a Bush-Clinton election in 2016, making somewhat of a repeat of when Bill Clinton and George H.W. ran against each other in 1992.  The only thing weirder though would be if Hillary had Tipper Gore, the estranged wife of Bill’s Vice President Al as her running mate and if Jeb decided to subject America and the world to whole new round of gaffes and goofups from Dan Quayle.  I really hope that neither Bush nor Clinton get the nomination for either of their parties, although Bush is among the more sane people among a large field of candidates who are kooks and crackpots.  Hillary Clinton is just as much about big money, and the social establishment as any of her Republican counterparts.  The only man for the Democratic nomination who really understands the real issues facing ordinary Americans is Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont.

There’s something really wrong about the possibility of either another Clinton or Bush presidency.  The United States was founded by people wanting a republic.  If a Bush or Clinton again occupies the highest office in the country, two families will have controlled the executive branch of the US government for nearly 30 years, Barack Obama being the only exception.  The Bush-Clinton oligarchy makes the long Kennedy presence in both legislative and executive roles look quite modest.  Why would a country founded upon a desire to move away from a monarchy want to essentially start electing one?  If they do this, Americans will have spent nearly three decades flip-flopping from one establishment family to the other while selecting their leader.  Why not just name him or her Emperor or Empress on inauguration day?
